Dear Praying Friends,
My heart breaks, and yours will too, as you read of the suffering of brothers and sisters in Christ from two countries that are close to my heart. These are by no means the only places where persecution is taking place, but these are particularly horrible at present. The following reports came to me from a reliable source. Please join in lifting these to the Lord for courage, comfort and release.

Our evangelism pastor's wife is planning to join me in the prayer walk in Laos early December. Do pray that we will have the Lord's guidance and blessing in carrying it out in accord with His will.
Edith (and Dick)

CRUEL PERSECUTION ESCALATING IN LAOS
Christians in Communist-ruled Laos report escalating persecution with hundreds of families experiencing horrendous tribulation. Christianity is labelled a ‘foreign religion' there and embracing it is akin to sedition.
The authorities violently intimidate Christians to sign papers renouncing their faith and when that fails they expel them from their homes and villages. When that fails they arrest and torture them. So Pastor Sompong Supatto (32) and Boot and Khamvan Chanthaleuxay (both 18) have been handcuffed and in stocks since 3 August for refusing to renounce their faith.
Pastor Supatto faces a life sentence and the teenagers, whose health is in a very bad way, will only be bailed if they renounce their faith. Interference from Hanoi, Vietnam, is possibly contributing to the persecution.
----------

LAOS: VILLAGE TO EXPEL 55 CHRISTIANS
Community decides to resolve ‘problem' of families refusing to recant faith.
The chief of Boukham village in Savannakhet province, Laos, on Friday (Sept. 19) called a special community meeting to resolve the "problem" of eight resident Christian families who have refused to give up their faith. The meeting concluded with plans to expel all 55 Christians from the village.
Although all adult members of a village are usually invited to such meetings, on this occasion the Christians were deliberately excluded, according to rights group Human Rights Watch for Lao Religious Freedom (HRWLRF).
Pastor Sompong Supatto, 32, and two other believers from the village, Boot Chanthaleuxay, 18, and Khamvan Chanthaleuxay, also 18, remain in detention in the nearby Ad-Sapangthong district police detention cell.
HRWLRF earlier reported that police have held the men in handcuffs and wooden foot stocks since their arrest on Aug. 3, causing numbness and infection in their legs and feet due to lack of blood circulation.
Authorities have said they will release the three only if they renounce their faith.
----------

INDIA: PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY
Huge armed Hindu mobs continue to rage against Christians in several states, assaulting and murdering them and torching their homes and churches. Since violence erupted on 23 August, at least 57 people have been killed, more than 18,000 injured and over 4,300 houses, 150 churches and 13 Christian schools and colleges destroyed.
Two Christian women have been gang-raped and some 50,000 people are now homeless. On 29 September three relief camps in Orissa sheltering displaced Christians were rocked by bombs. The camps are heavily guarded and there were no casualties but terror has increased substantially.
----------

INDIA: CHRISTIAN COUPLE KILLED, HOUSES TORCHED IN ORISSA
Displaced Christians survive bomb blasts as violence continues in Kandhamal district.
A Christian couple was found murdered, a woman killed, numerous houses and churches burned and low-intensity bombs exploded at relief camps in the past week in Orissa state's Kandhamal district, where Hindu extremist violence began more than a month ago.
On Sunday (Sept. 28), police found the body of Priyatamma Digal, an auxiliary nurse and midwife, in a river. On Monday, the body of her husband, Meghanath, was recovered. According to The Times of India newspaper, the Christian couple was killed last Thursday (Sept. 25).
This morning, September 30, attacks by unidentified armed groups in the villages of Rudangia, Telingia and Gadaguda in Kandhamal resulted in more than 100 houses burned and the death of Ramani Nayak of Rudangia village, reported The Hindu. Her religious affiliation was not known at press time.
Eight people were seriously injured in the attacks, according to reports, and about 20 people received minor injuries. Bomb blasts yesterday rocked three Kandhamal relief camps in the Nuagaon area, Mahasinghi village and Baliguda town, reported the Press Trust of India (PTI).
No casualties were reported, but the explosions left residents of the relief camps fearing for their lives. "Since they have been successful in exploding bombs near the heavily guarded relief camp, there is no guarantee that the explosions will not take place in other camps," one refugee told correspondents.

Road Trip

Dear Friends and Family:

On Monday, September 22nd, Larry and I left Lakeville, MN to start our three month road trip around the US (my first ever!). Our first stop is Kansas City, Missouri to spend time at the International House of Prayer (the "true IHOP," as we were told). This house of prayer has live worship music and intercessory prayer 24/7 since 1999. We have attended some classes and spent time in the Prayer Room with the desire to be refreshed in God's spirit and to grow in our knowledge of and our love for God. It has been a good week and we look forward to another week of resting in God and asking for his leadership in our lives as a married couple and for the work he has for us in Honduras. We have both been encouraged by his confirmation to our purpose being centered around raising up disciples by living in community. While we are eager to be back to our life and ministry in Honduras, we are thankful for this time he has given us in the US to rest and to be strengthened by him and by the opportunities we have to build and further our relationships here.

One of the biggest blessings we had in the area of relationship-building was our time living with the Substads for August and September. In the same neighborhood are the Kixes and the Carlsons, which are three of the four families that started Great Oaks International that we described more about in our last month's letter. God has called us to ministry together to make disciples as we serve and touch teh poorest of the poor through Agua Viva water projects, the GO Scholarship Fund and through our work called The 600. The encouragement and relationships we received from God through them was wonderful for us and we believe will strengthen what God is able to do through all of us as we have strengthened ourselves in his love for us.

In being in Minnesota as this fall's Agua Viva water project was forming and beginning, we were able to be a part of the initial training meetings. It was fun for us to be involved in the training process since we will not be able to be a part of the team in Honduras this fall. Larry was able to teach several times in the meetings, sharing what God has shown him through his experiences of living with the lost and forgotten in Honduras for so many years. It was a blessing for us to be ablet o share how we have seen God's love and life through our life and ministry in Honduras.

We were also able tos hare with a group from Faith Covenant (my home church), nd through a fairly comprehensive document that Larry wrote in September on The 600. It covers a big picture history of how things began with Jack Dyer's initial trips to Honduras in 1977, to the ways we are currently serving those around us like Joel, the orphans, Dona Maria and the Discipleship Group. We are excited to have this written out because we believe it will be helpful in a variety of ways as people are interested in knowing more about who we are and what we do.

We will be in Kansas City at IHOP for another week before we head out to St. Louis to visit Larry's sister, brother-in-law and their family for several days, and then we will be in the Chicago/Wheaton area to visit friends and so Larry can show me his college memories. We hope to go gleaning to remember some good times from the past. We will put a tentative schedule of our trip on our blog for those who are interested: http://the600.blogspot.com/.

Resting in Him,

Larry and Allison

Praise God for:
-our time in Minnesota, for the deepening of relationships
-the opportunity to be involved in the Agua Viva water project training meetings
-a time of rest and renewal in God's love in Minnesota and at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City

Pray for:
-God to continue to develop and strengthen our marriage as we travel
-Devon Landis and Dona Maria Montes as they care for Joel, the orphans and Don Victor with God's love and compassion
-the Agua Viva team as they prepare for the trip, and for the people of Las Lomas to have soft hearts to God's love

"LOVE WINS."

Steps Redirected.

From Ina De Craene: Belgium, August 13, 2008.

Steps Redirected.

Dear Friends,

I have experienced the reality of the wise words in Proverbs 16:9 "The human mind plans the way, but the Lord directs the steps." (NRSV). To the best of our ability we try to make plans, but God is the one guiding our steps as we are going, and the outcome is not always what we thought it would be!

The New Testament letter of James reminds us of the same thing: "Now listen, you who say, "Tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, ..." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life?..."( James 4:13,14).

So we face each day in expectation and humility, dependent on God's grace and goodness, for help in the options we have chosen.

As I write this, I should have been in Togo. I bought a round-trip air ticket to Togo in January to leave on August 11. Prices were still low at that time. And I was all set to go. But several weeks before my departure, I got a flu that robbed me of health and strength. I went to the doctor twice, but the medicine he prescribed didn't help much. Several days before the scheduled departure I felt that God was saying (through many and various indications) that this was not a good time for me to go. So with much regret, I cancelled my plans to leave for a month, to visit our Togolese family and friends.

The day I was to take the plane from Brussels airport, God confirmed that I had heard him correctly and that I had made the right decision. That day the European news reported that there was much chaos at the airport. The baggage handlers had gone on an unexpected strike. Flights had been cancelled, diverted, or delayed. There were many passengers stranded in Brussels. So it seems very likely that if I had been able to leave on the plane, it probably would have been without my luggage, and I might not have been able to make all my connections. I was so happy to know that I had avoided a very stressful situation right from the start.

So what am I doing now? Well, in July, I received the results of both my pre-doctoral course work at the university, and the results of my thesis defense. I passed with flying colors. I am eligible to enter the next phase: the doctoral program in theology. I have been working hard, with the help of my directing professor (promoter, we call him here) to map out a proposal for a doctoral dissertation I hope to work on in the next six years. The proposal has to be in before August 20, and a committee will vote on my acceptance or rejection in mid-September.

My studies at the university have not been the only thing that has been keeping me busy. My father, Johannes Weiss, has been here, living with us since the end of June. He is an active 80-year-old. He fills many hours on his computer, writing articles for his blogspot, talking to family via skype, and playing bridge (at the Leuven Bridge Club, if they can find him a partner.) He enjoys "home" cooking and so there are many evenings when we are four around our small kitchen table. Daniel, our Chinese adopted grandson, is often with us as well, after he gets out from summer play school. Daniel is turning five next week.

Before I go, I would like to ask you to pray for the following:

n Bob and his work in the Wycliffe-Belgium office. He often gets discouraged because the office is not "flourishing."

n Robin, Daniel's mother, who is planning to marry a Dutchman named Francis soon. We are praying for Francis' entry into the kingdom.

n Our friends and family in Togo who will be very disappointed not to receive the various forms of encouragement I was planning to bring to them.

n Assana, our Togolese daughter, who at this point is due to have a baby. The birth is overdue already.

n And pray for me, that the Lord would open this door in front of my current path, which is the doctoral program in theology. I hope to write more on the Apostle Paul and do a study of his speech in Acts 22.

I would like to share some more encouraging words from the Scriptures, especially for you, my lady friends, (and for me as well):

"My child, do not let these escape from your sight:
keep sound wisdom and prudence,
and they will be life to your soul
and adornment for your neck.
Then you will walk on your way securely
and your foot will not stumble.
If you sit down, you will not be afraid;
when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
Do not be afraid of sudden panic,
or of he storm that strikes the wicked:
for the Lord will be your confidence
and will keep your foot from being caught." Prov. 3:21-26.

Thank you for your support and friendship!

Ina
in Belgium
street address: Zavelputstraat 38, B-3020 Herent, Belgium

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you for your prayers and e-mails. All of your e-mails are a blessing to me, they make me feel very loved! Sorry I have not gotten back to you yet. I have had trouble getting online consistently.

I arrived in Rwanda safely and am starting to get settled. Kigali is beautiful, it has hills in every direction. Right now it is the dry season so it is quite dusty. I walk to the office which is about 20 minutes form where I live. The two aftercare staff that I am in charge of are wonderful and have much better English than I expected. I am busy getting to know the program and trying to figure out the best aftercare approach.

Prayer Points:

My emotions:
It has been difficult, especially with Ben (my one year old Godson) passing away the day before I left the US. It has been hard to be away from Fenny and Hans (Ben's parents in India) and my family at this time. Genocide Learning about the genocide is horrific and a lot to process. I went to the genocide memorial and have heard quite a few stories about my co-workers experiences during the genocide. Please pray for healing in Rwanda it is a broken country with a lot of broken and hurting people. I hope and pray that God will use me in bringing healing to this land.
Community: It has been a little lonely this first bit. However, I can see that God is building a community for me here. I had a wonderful time at Bible Study Sunday night. We prayed for Rwanda and I was very blessed and encouraged through it.

Spiritual Warfare:
Please for my protection and that I will be vigilant in warfare. In India the spiritual forced were so evident. Here everything looks good on the surface and it is not as obvious but people still practice witchcraft. Pray that I will be faithful and not distracted from God in anyway. Pray that I have good prayer times and keep my heart open to God.

Hans and Fenny: Thank you to everyone who has expressed sympathy and is praying for Fenny and Hans. Please continue to pray for them. I can not imagine their pain.

Thank you for your prayers, love and support!
Please keep me updated on how you are and let me know how I can pray for you.
Love,
Melissa

We just received a phone call from Jenny and Rev Taylor to say Melissa is an hour into her journey from London to Rwanda, via Kenya. From all accounts they had a spectacular time together and Jenny said it felt as if she was saying goodbye to her daughter at the airport. They picked her up easily on Tuesday morning and did a mini tour of the English countryside along the Thames river, had lunch overlooking it, visited St Mary's where Roy and I were Youth leaders eons ago. After dinner they found several connections...friends who had just retired from and written books on the history of Rwanda. Roy and Jenny gave her copies to read on the plane. They had glorious weather and this morning Roy and Jenny took Melissa to Windsor castle for the changing of the guard and then lunch together. Then it was time to go to Heathrow and they prayed first as Melissa's luggage was way over the allowances. Jenny explained how often they flew Kenya Air for charity purposes and not only was Melissa allowed through but her luggage is checked through to Rwanda escaping another possible rate hike or damage. God is so good!!! They have asked her to come to stay on her return visit in a year and they are now in her corner for prayer requests and e.mail updates. She has promised to learn French with the dictionaries they gave her if Roy, who is a brilliant organist, will learn guitar. Melissa's office staff speak only Rwandan and French, so "Hello" and "Goodbye" won't be the only words she knows.
Thank you for all your prayers for her. God bless each and every one of you. Also pray blessings on Jenny and Roy as their generosity is far and above what others would do.
Much love and excitement at what God does for us all,
Joan and Peter

Dear Friends and Family,

Wedding

The knot is tied. A three strand cord is not easily broken. On June 21st, Allison and I were married with many friends and family members present to witness it and to celebrate it with us. How can words describe the joy and gratefulness that we felt for all that our Father in heaven has done for us, to lead us to that day and this life together. Many times throughout the wedding weekend, Allison and I and others were overwhelmed with tears at the goodness of God. Thank you, all of you who have prayed and loved Allison and I through our respective journeys. Both of us have stumbled through rough terrain, but Christ has redeemed us. Praise the great I AM with us. His love endures forever.

Then through the generosity of my dad and his wife, and others, we enjoyed a two-week honeymoon in the Canadian Rockies. It was as wonderful as can be! Attached are some photos of some of the beautiful places we visited. Please continue to pray for us, that God would be glorified in our life together as Larry and Allison Smoak.

Sabbatical

Now, through the end of 2008, we are staying in the United States for a sabbatical. Our goals for this sabbatical are
1) to let God build a strong foundation for our marriage,
2) to be renewed in body, soul and spirit for continued ministry in Honduras , and
3) to reconnect with many of you, our friends and family members.
During July through mid-September we will be living in Minnesota , growing our relationship and spending time with people in Allison's family, her home church and our friends who make up the Great Oaks International board. Then from mid-September through mid-December we will travel in the midwestern and eastern United States to visit many of you, attend three conferences and run the Chicago Marathon. Christmas and New Years will be celebrated in Minnesota and then back to Honduras January 8, 2009.

Las Mangas

Meanwhile Jonathan Zoba along with Doña Maria Montes hold down the fort in Las Mangas. Please pray for Jonathan and Maria, along with her younger children and Joel, who are learning how to be an intercultural community through daily responsibilities and some tough circumstances. Petty but nagging robberies continue to take place, and on two occasions Maria's husband Santos has arrived drunk and violent. Jonathan had to intervene and finally Maria and Jonathan put out a restraining order for him. Pray with us not only for protection and wisdom for Jonathan and Maria, but for Santos to find the freedom available through faith in Christ.

Praise the Lord for:
1. His grace which brought Allison and I together to be married and to rejoice in him with so many friends and family at our wedding
2. His grace that provides this sabbatical for our strengthening and renewal
3. Jonathan Zoba and Maria Montes and their faithfulness to serve him

Pray to the Lord for:
1. him to strengthen our marriage, renew us for future service and lead us in our travels
2. protection and wisdom for Jonathan and Maria as they carry on the work in Las Mangas
3. Gustavo, Adolfo and Enemecio who are working at an orphanage in the Mosquitia
4. IER graduates Lesbin, Jacob, Melvin and Anna as they adjust to life and University studies in Tegucigalpa

That the Ransomed will return,

Larry and Allison

Dear praying friends,

As you know, our son, David teaches English in China at a university. This summer he decided to move to another city and easily got a job with a university in Baotou, the hometown of his girlfriend, Alex. They have both moved there now and Alex is having difficulty, as a new university graduate, in finding a job. That's a prayer item, but the one I'm writing about today is for David's visa. Each year his university has been able to get his visa for him. But this year, because of the Olympics and the possible problems China desperately wants to avoid, they are trying to get as many foreigners out of the country as possible -- so he has been told he cannot get a visa to teach there until after mid October when the rules go back to the normal ones. He's making some attempts, with some help from people there, to get either an extension on his current visa or a tourist visa. His current visa expires July 30, so time is very short. If he indeed has to leave and not come back till after mid October, where does he go and how does he find work for that short time? The university apparently wants him to come when the visa is available. You can see it's a real difficulty for David right now.

Would you pray with us for: 1) a miracle -- a visa allowing him to stay or,
2) clear direction where to go (exactly where -- probably in the US) to wait it out and get a new visa
and 3) peace of heart for both him and Alex, his girl friend.
and 4) a job for Alex

Thanks very much for supporting our dear ones in prayer at this time. Sometime next week I will let you know what God has done.

In His grip,

PS. My friend Linda has had one more surgery and praise God, she is much better and is to be going back to Indonesia this Monday!

Dear Partners,

We have all read the verse, "this is the way, walk ye in it.. I have read it many times, especially since Floyd was called home almost 4 years ago. God always walks with me but the past two months its been a roller coaster ride!

Jordan went to Florida for the summer, but changed his mind and came back in June. For 5 weeks I was alone, except for the visit of "The Advent" a Christian Rock Band. They were here a couple of days just before the return of Jordan and his Florida girl friend. Then came my two 16 year old granddaughters, Chloe from Florida and Rebecca from Austin. The girls were delightful and helped me organize some closets and other things. Chloe drives so they happily went to the mall or Starbucks by themselves.

In the middle of this we had another band, "Trapped Under Ice" first visit. My health was on the same roller coaster. Just as I think, "I am so much better, I can go to church and go visit nursing homes....." something flares up that keeps me home.

This week my dizziness increased and the doctor gave me an IV at his office. Dehydration was the reason although I drink 2 or 3 bottles of water daily. It has been in the 90s daily and I have watered plants a bit. Dizziness is still there so my water bottle and I will see the doctor on Monday.

As you pray for my situation, pray for wisdom. At times I wish someone else would make my decisions for me....wisdom in use of time, stretching the dollars, how much medicine I should take.

I do thank you for standing with me. I would love to visit every one of you...but right now its just to the doctors' offices. Praise the Lord for the concerned health providers I have and the location of the clinic 5 minutes away. Love, Millie

Dear Family and Friends:

We pray and hope all is well with you all. We apologize for the delay in sending out our newsletter to you. We have finally setup our newsletter as an html so you can simply click on it and it will get you to our Pipeline site where you can read articles, see pictures and even watch our Pipeline video. We have little features also such as a poll we are taking right now to find out what people are thinking and with each article you can even send a comment. The best thing about this is we will not overload your email capacity by sending it the old way such as a pdf file or word file which fills up email capacity to the max many times. In this edition of our Pipeline we have an article in network news from Honduras with Jim and Julie, a testimony of what God is doing to bring the vision of Cities of Refuge to fruition and how the Lord is ministering and reconciling couples. We also wrote an article on our focus for this next five years and that is building up the training center that would equip leaders from Latin America and around the globe to start Cities of Refuge to impact their nations. In our next issue we will have guest contributors and articles from Colombia, Peru and Florida. Thank you so much for your prayers and support. We love you and remember you in our prayers.

Dear Friends and Family,

Wedding Preparations

Allison and I are daily growing in joyful anticipation for our wedding day (June 21st). Allison is in Minnesota planning and preparing for this big celebration of God's love who has brought us together. Please ask the Father for his provision and direction in making our wedding a reflection of the glorious wedding of the Lamb (See the book of Revelation 19:7). Pray also for our time apart, as I continue in Honduras until the end of May, that we will draw close to God and grow in Love for each other.

Minnesota Junior High Team

In early April a team of twenty-five students and teachers joined us for a week to learn about Jesus by serving with us among the poor. They helped paint the elementry school in La Muralla and paint a second coat on the Orphan's house. They did yard work with Don Victor and participated in classes at IER. Serving each other around the Las Mangas campus by washing dishes, cleaning bathrooms and emptying the compost bucket was part of participatory learning about Jesus as well. Through many such activities and our evening discussion times each one of us were challenged and inspired by a glimpse of Jesus. Pray for each of these young people to let what they learned about Jesus guard their hearts and direct their steps for the rest of their lives.

Nicaragua Trip

From April 28th through May 1st Jonathan Zoba (a current volunteer at Las Mangas) and I traveled to Nicaragua to visit and glean ideas from a 22-year old educational demonstration farm called Rancho Ebenezer (RE). The brothers at RE have developed and excellent system of raising enough small livestock and vegetables to sustain a typical latino subsistance farm family, and all this on just 1.125 acres! We admired various new fourage plants, learned better techniques for raising rabbits, goats and chickens, and saw how beneficial raising earthworms for organic fertilizer and even animal feed can be. They also taught us how to weave our own chain-link type fencing material. Upon our return to Honduras we brought some stow-away passengers - 10 African Red earth worms, some forage cuttings and seeds. These species will be helpful components in our back yard gardening and on Finca Shalom. During our trip Jonathan and I recalled various of history's violent conflicts involving Honduras, Nicaragua and the United States. After our fruitful exchange of ideas, resources and faith at Rancho Ebenezer, and as we brought back the gifts of seeds, either in the form of plants, worms or ideas from Nicaragua to plant in Honduras by United States citezens, I believe that those at Rancho Ebenezer and ourselves opened another pathway to peace, to shalom in the Americas. Thank you for your part in making this possible.

Praise the Lord for:

1. His goodness in bringing Allison and I together in his love

2. The participation in and learning of God's love by the Junior High Team

3. The fruitful trip to Rancho Ebenezer, Nicaragua

Pray to the Lord for:

1. Allison and I to be full to overflowing in God's love as we prepare for our wedding and marraige

2. Wisdom and strength as get ready to leave by tying up loose ends and turning things over to Jonathan Zoba and Doña Maria for our wedding and seven month sabbatical in the US

3. God to speak to the Discipleship Group as this month we wrap things up for the year.

4. Eric, Carla, Levi, Lilian and Yensi, all Discipleship Group members in their first year of University

Dear Friends,

My doctor told me to get a bone density test and to go back to church! My niece and I went to SS, church and lunch. I did quite well. (The test came out ok) The following Wednesday I joined a friend to visit a dear lady in a nursing home. She was so glad to see us and the Don Juan roses I took her from our yard.

So I told the Lord, "this is great! I am back in circulation and can be a part of the world outside my home." Wasn't what He had in mind! An infection I had been battling returned and has kept me home and in bed a good part of the time. We had a house guest, Jordan got severe food poisoning and the house painters finally started. Then the house guest left and two others came for a few days. Jordan is fine but I am still staying in. The painters are still painting.

Our house was looking so grungy I didn't think Floyd would approve. He always took such pride in keeping the yard and house looking nice. So I took some $$ out of savings and got the yard cleaned up and now we are painting the house...very slowly.

I want the Lord's direction, even if it is staying home. So pray with me for the future. Jordan leaves May 9 for the summer. I had hoped to go to Dallas for our annual Wycliffe Peru Branch members celebration of the Veinteocho. (July 28-Peru's Independence Day). I had the doctor's permission to travel. I would prefer to drive...if gas prices aren't $20 a gallon!

Thanks for your concern, your prayers and your financial help. I never feel alone. Love, Millie

Kelly and Kevin were here for a weekend, and my two nieces joined us.

Shalom, shalom! Wow, it has been a long time since we have been in touch. I must say, since I have been in touch since I am the English writer in the family. So now you are getting inundated with emails from us. Barr, our baby is now 6 months, hard to believe. I have all the best intentions of writing but then I usually am trying to clean the house until the wee hours of the morning (that is pretty sad since we live in a tiny trailer home) or I am falling asleep in the chair after the kids go to bed. I finally found a moment of quite as Netanel, our firstborn went to play among the olive trees while Ronen works and Noam and Barr are sleeping. Oop, well Barr is now the only one sleeping so this will be cut short. I bribed Noam with a snack so I can keep writing.

I actually had something on my heart to share, at least for this email. My pregnancy with Barr was the hardest of the three. It was HOT - last months of pregnancy during summer in the desert and no air conditioner is not the most fun a girl can have. My emotions were running higher than high and I was angry quite often. I was angry, frustrated, sad - you name it, I felt it, except for much joy. .

It was at this time that I also had a hard time with my older boys (I am sure they were just reacting to my emotions), especially the oldest. He was often teasing his brother and I was very frustrated with him. It seemed that every morning I woke up already frustrated and waiting to see what he would do to his younger brother. Then one morning, I walked out of the room and Netanel, who rises with the sun, ran to me and jumped up to hug me. I saw the light shining in his beautiful eyes and his smile covered his face. I fell in love with him again. After all, he is amazing even if he sometimes teases his little brother.
That evening I went to a women's meeting. Another woman shared about how she dreaded going home after work because she knew she would walk into a messy house and problems with her children. The leader of the meeting said she should ask God to help her see her children as new each day, not holding against them what was yesterday. As soon as I heard that, I thought of my precious Netanel and how I fell in love with him again that morning. Instantly, I remembered one translation of a scripture - "His mercies are new every morning." It should also be the same with us - for our children, our spouse, neighbor or boss. We need to see them new each day, sometimes even every hour.

Thank God that his mercies are new every morning for us! Are your mercies new every morning?

By the way, I was really concerned about the baby when I was going through that hard time. I felt so sorry for him and wondered what would be with him since babies feel everything that the mother is going through. Well, though I was miserable, Abba had him surrounded with love and joy. Barr is the happiest baby I have EVER seen in my life. It is amazing. Even if he is crying from pain, like from a burp, he still stops to smile at us. In Hebrew the word for MERCY is Rahamim and the word for womb is Rehem, they are from the same root word. The womb is the mercy room for our little babies.

Blessings on this Shabbat and Happy Freedom Day (Passover),

Shalom and greetings from the desert!

For some time now, I have been promising to update you all on the progress of our vision in the desert. We have some new friends so I will take a little time to do a little repeat of the vision before sharing where we are today.

**Some time ago, I started to send this email out with pictures but it was too big. Most didn't receive and for those of you who did, I am sorry for the weight of the email! This one is without pics and we hope to some time soon get a web page going or at least post some pics on the web for you to see the blessings in the desert.

About four years ago, the Lord "planted" a vision in our heart for the Negev desert - to be a part of the desert blooming, as prophesied in Isaiah. After much opposition because of our faith, we were finally accepted into a new settlement called Beer Milcah. This was a year ago in October. We are apart of the founding settlers living on a large, beautiful sand dune on the border of Egypt. We are only 18 families now (around 40 children). The settlement is secular but we are now 3 families of believers! And there are another 3 families of believers in settlements close by. As being a part of the settlement, the government has granted us 20 acres each to do an agricultural project.

Eretz Yah
Eretz Yah means "God's Land" and this is the name that we have chosen for our project. The land that God has blessed us with is dedicated to Him and for His purposes - to cause the desert to bloom, physically and spiritually. The first aspect of the Eretz Yah is to eventually be a self-supporting farm. The second phase of Eretz Yah is to build a worship center and desert style tourist bungalows. There are many Israeli tourists who travel to our area (over 3000 during Passover holidays alone). We want to serve them with the Love of the Lord and be a witness to His goodness. We also believe that more and more from the nations will come to the desert to worship the God of Israel and to learn more of the roots of our faith.

We also want to provide a place for believers who want to give more of themselves and not just their money to support Israel. We hear from so many that they want to come and serve, to dig their hands into the soil and to toil with us here in the land. And we want to provide a place for them to do just that. With the combination of work and worship, we pray that it will be a life changing experience for those who come. Education will be a fundamental part of Eretz Yah, not only for those who seek to know more about the Hebrew roots but we also will build a system for watering and harvest from Biblical times to modern for school children and others to learn and interact. That means stepping on grapes for wine (clean feet only!) and an ancient olive press. We have already spoken to the head of the Jewish Agency in our area and when we have things running he will bring about 15-20 percent of the school children who come on school tours to Eretz Yah. We will have the opportunity to touch the hearts of thousands of children

Causing the Desert to Bloom
Our vision includes an olive orchard and a vineyard to make olive oil and wine for commercial use and an herb and vegetable garden close to the worship center. The vineyard is on hold at the moment as we don't have the funds to start it at this time however, we have started planting the olive orchard, which is called Valerie's Orchard. Valerie is a Holocaust survivor who has impacted our lives in a great way. She is not only a survivor but an over-comer, showering others with the love of God. She is also an artist and uses the olive tree to depict her life and the holocaust. Valerie's Orchard is not only in honor of our dear friend but all those who survived the holocaust and a memorial to those who perished. A friend of ours was so impacted by her love that he made a mini movie about her, soon to be on DVD. You can check it out at www.valeries-orchard.com.

Dreamality
This is a term that Ronen coined as we saw our dreams becoming reality. In the spring we received a donation (thank you Whole Loaf!) to buy the water pipes and system to be able to start the project. The Lord, through an Israeli organization, sent us 30 volunteers to help start the first round of planting for Valerie's Orchard. The amazing thing is that half of the volunteers were Israeli students and the other half were German Christian students. The first to plant olive trees in the orchard that honors Holocaust survivors were Israeli and Germans together! Until they came, they had no idea that this was what they were coming for. Our Abba orchestrated the whole thing. It was such a beautiful time.

The Next Step
~ We have started the olive tree orchard but still have room to plant more and more and we are preparing a greenhouse for new trees that can be planted in October.
~ We soon purchase the herbs that will also be stored in the greenhouse until they can be planted. We will focus on hebs used for healing and for teas, like lemon grass for example.
~ We still need to purchase grape vines for the vineyard and in the future we want to have our own winery for the wine production.

~We have started building the first meeting and eating room and plan to build the first three tourist bungalow, hopefully this summer.

~We need a small trailer home to use for volunteers and also a generator since there is no electricity on the project land yet and the government has said there won't be for at least three years. Once that is build, we can start to focus on the worship center and more bungalows.
Each step is a step of faith, as we came to the desert with nothing. We have seen Abba move in such beautiful ways to bring the vision to pass. It has been a faith building experience and the praises go to Yah for His goodness.

A Mitzvah

In Hebrew, a mitzvah is a commandment and also a good deed, which the Lord commands us to do. As we were studying the Word about planting and farming we came across this scripture in Leviticus:
"But in the fourth year (after planting) all its fruit shall be holy, a praise to the Lord. And in the fifth year you may eat its fruit, that it may yield to you its increase: I am the Lord your God." Leviticus 19:23- 25
Our farm will be run according to the ways the Lord has shown us. Although the trees will bear fruit in the first years, we will wait until the fifth year to harvest for ourselves to make olive oil to sell. This is another reason for the tourist bungalows, they will a way of support for the farm until it will provide for itself.

It is also a mitzvah to plant a tree when you come to Israel. "And when you have come into the land, and have planted all manner of trees..." Leviticus 19:23 So, when you come, you may certainly join us at Eretz Yah and plant your own tree. For those of you who can not come at this time, we will be happy to plant one for you or in honor of someone you love. Details on that in the next email!

Dear Friends,
Apologies for the delay in writing. I had a computer problem that could not get fixed until today. Linda's surgery Friday went well, although they did have to call in another surgeon for one piece of the job. She had two rough days Saturday and Sunday with pain and nausea. Finally the doctors got their heads together and figured out a different set of medicines to help with pain, nausea and together with the antibiotic she has to continue with until she leaves the hospital. Since Monday Linda has been feeling much better, tho' there is still pain when the pain med is taken off in order to put one of the others on -- all through a drip intervenously. She can sit up and stand some now, but is quite confined due to the aparatus of the drip. Anyway, in spite of all that she is now back to her cheerful self and thanking God for every good gift---and enjoying the fruit I bring each time I visit.
Thank you each for your prayers for LInda. Please just continue to pray there will be no post op complications at all and that everything will be towards healing with day by day improvement.

Over the last several weeks I have been frequently visiting and praying with a Wycliffe colleague in the nearby hospital. Her name is Linda and she works in Indonesia. Her home country is El Salvador. In January she had back surgery due to a herniated disk. After she finally returned to Indonesia her pain only increased so she came back to the hospital here. The doctors discovered an infection of a bacteria that is resistant to all but two antibiotics. She's been on intravenous antibiotics twice daily since then and for a while the level of infection was going steadily down. But day before yesterday a blood test showed a drastic increase in the infection and an MRI confirmed it. She's had a lot of pain for several days. Yesterday three doctors have been discussing together what is the best course of action to both get the infection out and further repair the space between two vertabrae. It is likely she will have surgery tomorrow or the next day. Please pray for Linda and for the Lord's hand upon her to bring healing -- eradication of the infection and healing of her back. Ask God to guide the doctors to make the best possible plan and to give skill and wisdom in carrying it out. Pray too for the Holy Spirit's ministry to Linda as she struggles against dispair after so many weeks in the hospital. She is single, in her 40's and I'm her only friend here in Singapore. Of course she has friends and family at home and in Indonesia, but you can imagine how one needs friends who are present with you in these circumstances. I too need the Lord's help to be the friend she needs and to not succumb to back problems which threaten me if I over-do in running around.

Thanks so much for standing with us. We are so thankful for the Lord's hand in all aspects of ministry here.

Dear Friends and Family,

Wheaton College Honduras Project

Back in the 80's (that sounds like a long time ago but it seems like yesterday) as a student at Wheaton College, I was involved in a student initiated, organized and led mission trip which eventually led my brother Jonathan and his wife Valerie and myself to Jack Dyer and Honduras. And this year, like most years, Gustavo Lepe and I joined the Wheaton College Honduras Project as a translators, speakers and advisors. For ten days we helped a community of 100 homes install awater system and held community meetings in the afternoons where the good news about Jesus was presented in words, song and drama. Certain individuals of Las Quebradas were very hungry to hear the good news of grace through faith in Jesus because apparently most of the churches in the village preach a gospel based on works. We were very encouraged to see these people drink in the good news, understand it and want to apply it. Also, many of the Wheaton students heard God's call to participate in his mission of love and justice on the earth as I led them through debriefing sessions. Please pray for God's continued work in these lives, especially Oscar and Milton of Las Quebradas, along with the Wheaton students.

Wedding Plans

Allison and I continue to make plans for our wedding on June 21st. Planning is difficult from a distance and with no telephone or internet access in our home. So Allison will be leaving for Minnesota April 23rd to better prepare for our big day. Please pray with us that these preparations would be led, inspired and honoring to the Creator of man and woman. Pray for strength as Allison and I are apart for six weeks. I will stay in Honduras until June 7th when I will join Allison for final wedding preparations. Our plan is to remain in the US after our wedding until January 2009 for a six month sabbatical to gain a solid start to our marriage, to visit many of you and to spend some time in prayer, study and research. We are still praying for someone to fill in while we are gone, especially in caring for the orphans. If any of you feel a tug on your heart to serve in this way please write to us for details.

Youth Group

From April 2nd (tomorrow) through the 9th we will host a group of 25 youth and leaders that Jay and Susie are bringing from Minnesota. These youth come to learn about the world, God's love for the world and his call to go into all the world. We pray that they will learn as they serve by helping us paint the school house in La Muralla, paint a second coat on the orphan's house, paint the El Naranjo kindergarten building and help out at IER. Please pray for strength and logistical organization during this week and for truth to be heard and accepted.

Organizational Changes

I have attached a letter describing some organizational changes that are taking place this month. Please take a little time to read this attached letter carefully. We are confident that this is God's leading and will open new opportunities for God's kingdom to come and will to be done.

Praise the Lord for:
1. Jesus' obedience to death on a cross and the victory won in the resurrection
2. his provision of love for Allison and I to be headed towards marriage
3. the revelations of gospel truth that took place during the Wheaton project

Pray to the Lord for:
1. guidance and inspiration as Allison and I plan our wedding
2. the youth from Minnesota and our neighbors during this month's service project
3. us as we love Gerson (11) and Mario (13), two of the orphans who are entering adolescence and facing its challenges
4. Someone to fill in while Allison and I are six month in the US

Dear Friends,

Here in Singapore, Good Friday is a national holiday, so we had a very good turn out for our Good Friday services. Then on Resurrection Sunday we saw another very good turn out and the music in both services was very special. The offeratory of "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" by piano, violyn and a traditional Chinese stringed instrument with a contralto 'voice' was stunningly inspiring. The Lord is Risen--He is risen indeed!!

May His resurrection life fill you with hope, joy and strength!

Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragements. Many of you had emailed us and spoke to us how much the last two newsletters had impacted you. We praise the Lord because He is faithful and always true to His word that it will never return void. Recently we had our first graduation for the year 2008 in Canaan, Colombia. Three men completed the program; two of them are married and went back to their respective communities and one stayed for servant leadership training. As I was listening to their testimonies I had commented to our director here in Colombia that only the Lord can do such a thing and it is worth everything. The testimonies had a common thread in them, each one were tempted to give up, throw in the towel and go back on their commitment to the Lord. The grass seems greener on the other side, but they decided to stick it out, let the Lord use their circumstances to heal and finish what the Lord has started.

No matter what stage in life we are in we all face this kind of temptation from time to time, to take the easy road where everyone travels on, not the lonely dirt road less traveled. When times get tough especially in answering the call of God we seem to compare ourselves with each other and feel that we got shafted with the wrong end of the stick. Our tendency is to get out of this situation as fast as possible. This is the temptation, to look at what others have and covet the same "privileges." But how sweet it is to savor the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ! Only through enduring and staying put no matter what storms come our way do we become approved and blessed with the crown of life. It is how testimonies are formed; it is how history is made. I want to encourage you all missionaries and children of God in the US and abroad, the Lord sees your faithfulness and love for Him, endure for you have a crown of life waiting for you in heaven. What you are doing right now is forming your testimony; it is what gives us the privilege to minister to others.

My father told my brother something that impacted me so much, I took it to heart for myself. He said, "Everyone has something to say, the key is to find the vehicle to express it." Each one of us needs to find our vehicle to express what God has placed in our hearts as a testimony of His goodness and grace. "Look up for your salvation draws near!"

We love you all!

Hello Friends!
I am alive here in Romania! Tonight is the banquet for the maternity home. It is crazy that it's already here! Normally this banquet is a report on the ministry but because there isn't a home to report on we had to REALLY seek God on what we should do.....Not that we don't seek God = ) We felt like this year it was suppose to have a theme of how valuable LIFE is. If people understand that their view is changed about abortion. We could REALLY use your prayers as Kathy (the director) is venturing out into new waters. This is SO different then people have seen in past banquets.
This past week we have had a team here and I have had the opportunity to participate in some other types of ministry. We visited a church that is in a garbage dump and ministers to the gypsies that live there. We walked through the dump and saw how they live. Most of the houses are made out of whatever trash they can find. The church is helping the families build little wood homes. And by little I mean little. Four people will live in what we Americans and Canadians would consider a shed to store our junk. The church also has a shower house and is trying to establish a medical clinic. The gypsies are outcast and known for stealing here. So people do not trust them all. Because of that it's a big deal to see people reaching out to them. It was so sad to see the poverty they live in. Because of how they are treated here they are very little chance of getting out of the dump. Most people will not hire them. One of the ladies we went to visit gave up the last of her wood to make a fire for us! It blew me away how she wanted to give us what little she had!
We also went to the maternity hospital to give out gifts to the new moms. Because the abortion rate here is 50% we want to let these moms know that we applaud their decision to give LIFE to their babies! It was cool to go and bless these women!
One more cool thing....Starbucks opened last week! We are a little too excited about it though!
So thank you all for your prayers and support!

God Bless,
Vania

Dear Partners,

Tuesday my life was punctuated by "phone calls" from McCain, Obama, Hilliary and 5 or 6 others! Gratefully they have now moved to Pennsylvania. I read Psalm 2 again and wonder if the Lord is looking down right now and laughing at us. Whoever is our next president is going to need many prayers.

I appreciate all your concerns, prayers and financial support. As partners' circumstance change, and some are called to Heaven many are not able to stay with me financially. But I trust the much needed prayers are still there. And I do thank those of you who can help with the financial support and keep me living in my home.

My sons greatly bless me and since I have always told them "no nursing home for me", I discuss my major plans with them. Our house has begun to look shabby and I don't think Floyd would have let it happen. We decided to take funds from savings and after 14 years I am going to have it repainted and some repairs done. Hopefully I can work some outside so the yard can be a testimony to God's beautiful creation.

Great answers to prayer. I no longer have a blood clot and not as much pain. My paper work is getting under control. A dear Wycliffe friend helped with my taxes and I already have gotten back a refund. Weakness is still a major concern and I am pushing my physical strength as much as I can to try to overcome it. I worked several days cleaning the garage and working with plants. I don't work long at a time but it seems to make a difference.

Floyd and I always thought that grieving would last about 3 years and then life would be easier. I don't know where we got that idea, but after three and a half years I find that I miss Floyd more than ever. So many things I wish I had done differently..but I know that is of Satan because he wants to pull me down. I just ask the Lord to help me remember the privileged life we had together for 57 years , that all is forgiven and He still has things for me to do. We still have many young people in and out, and I guess I no longer see their tattoos! These are precious ones and I just want to love them to the Lord.

God's special blessings on you all, love Millie and crew (Jordan, Snoopy and Fido)
Dear Friends and Family,

First Birthday Parties

Do you remember your first birthday party? I don't remember mine because I was one year old. Don Victor remembers his very well. He was 95. And so does Joel who turned 29 this last month. They both had their first birthday party on February 16.th We decorated with colorful ballons, made and decorated a cake, lit candles and sang, invited Doña Maria, Nelvin and Elida and family and presented gifts to these two whom we love so much. It was an amazing evening to watch these two men enjoy their first birthday party like any child would. The next morning at breakfast Joel, wearing his new shoes, rehearsed every last detail of the party, singing "Feliz cumpliaños..." and especially recounting how he blew out the birthday candles because Don Victor didn't know how to. Don Victor has worn his new shirt at least three times. Thanks for allowing us to be a part of such wonderful experiences.

Latrines Project

What does it take to build a latrine on the mountain side of a small farming community in Honduras? Four hundred pounds of cement, three thirty-foot re-bars, 150 board feet of lumber and 270 shovel-fulls of sand hauled up the mountain trail by each family is just the beginning. We dug eight foot deep pits, lined them with rocks, poured the concrete slabs to cover them, poured the foundation for the outhouse and finally built the outhouse itself. During the month of February we spent a lot of time with the families of La Muralla building latrines. It has been hard work and a good time to move forward with the people towards a good and single goal. Through this project the people of La Muralla have witnessed the love of God through each other and through us who are working with them. During the last week of February a group of ten friends from Minnesota, who raised the funds for the latrines, came and lived in the community for six days. They helped us build the outhouses, had meetings with the children, and community meetings in the afternoons where we spoke about Jesus. We also provided dentristy services to anyone in the community. Pablo, a leader in the community, said that they had never had a group of people stay in their community to be with them and to work along side of them. I believe that God revealed himself through us, the person named Immanuel, which means "God with us." Pray with us that the people of La Muralla would hear God's call to them, turn to him and by faith walk the new life through Christ.

Duani

Do you remember what I wrote last month about the young man named Duani?
God has allowed our path to cross with an eighteen-year old young man named Duani. Duani was a bright hopeful of IER but struggled to focus his efforts. His behavior became more and more disruptive until he had to be expelled for drug and alcohol use. To make a long story short, Duani has spiraled into deeper depths of darkness until he now steals to support his cocaine addiction. He has stolen from us various times over the last year and I have confronted him face to face. This month he broke in and stole items from the Gordon College students and Tim English and I had a long direct talk with him about the consequences of his actions. Duani knows the truth of God's love inside. He has witnessed it from myself and others. But he has suppressed the truth with cold, hard, dark bitterness, unforgiveness and unleashed anger. Please pray for Duani to repent and give in to God's mercy. If he continues in his current path he will not live long.
In February Duani came to us asking for work. After speaking to him openly of his destroying the trust between us and his need to seek restoration of that trust if we were to be true friends, I offered him work on a week by week basis. For two weeks he worked hard, treated us respectfully and seemed to enjoy the new direction in his life. We enjoyed his humor and intellect, although continued to see footholds of darkness in his soul. But last week the campus was broken into again. Several items were stolen including our notebook computer. After the police made an investigation most of the evidence pointed to Duani, and so they arrested and held him in jail for twenty-four hours. Afterwards we spoke with Duani and urged him to return to the path of life found in Jesus. We are all sad for this turn of events but please continue to pray with us for Duani's surrender to God's love. Pray for us that we would follow God's leading with wisdom and love in further relationship with Duani.

The English Family

We enjoyed the return of Tim, Jenny, Cara, Emma, Jether, Linea, Joel and Philip English for the months of December and January. The English family made it possible for Allison to visit friends and family in December by carrying on the various outreaches of love here. They also were a significant part of the staff in hosting the Gordon College class. Tim, Jenny and all, thank you for your love for Jesus and the way you loved him here by serving and with joy. God blessed so many of us through you.

IER Begins their 8th School Year

Instituto El Rey (IER) began its eighth school year at the beginning of February with about 170 students. Please pray for administrators Earl and Sharon Washburn, Principal Ester Ramirez, the rest of the teachers and the students that they would grow in knowledge, faith and love through the knowledge of Christ.

Discipleship Group

We have also begun meetings with the Discipleship Group. Carla, Jensi, Lilian, Eric and Levi will continue meeting with us even though they are attending University or working in La Ceiba (Eric). Allison and I want to love God so fully and listen to him so that our lives, attitudes and words will lead the group to Jesus. Pray for spiritual, emotional and mental transformation.

Thank you for your prayers, your encouragement and your support of all kinds. It is a privilege to represent Jesus among the people of Honduras with and by your involvement. Thank you.

Praise the Lord for:
1. his faithfulness to include us in his life and draw us to rest in his love
2. the good news that was proclaimed in La Muralla through the latrines project
3. Jonathan Zoba's enthusiasm for the kingdom of God and help in the work
4. the opportunity for the Discipleship Group to keep seeking the kingdom together

Pray to the Lord for:
1. his Holy Spirit to guide Allison and I as we continue to prepare for our wedding and marriage
2. God's kingdom to come among the people of La Muralla
3. the Spirit of God to work in the hearts of the Discipleship Group youth
4. work in Duani's heart and the youth of this area as we love them with Christ's love

to know and love Jesus,

Dear Friends,
Greetings from Romania! I wanted to send you a little update to let you know I am alive and well in Transylvania!
I have been here for almost a month now! It actually has not been as cold as I expected.....but there have been those days! It has snowed like 3 times since I have been here which brings such joy to my heart! My friends here just think I am crazy for wanting more winter!
I am living at the YWAM center right out side of the city of Cluj-Napoca. The YWAM center is a big house and most of the staff live there. Having been here before I knew all of the staff which was a nice blessing! They all have been great at making me feel at home. I have felt settled here but I do miss my friends!
I am splitting my time in two areas. I work in the Administration office and with Living Alternatives. In Administration I am learning to do the Accounting. I have been working with the lady that currently does it to try and translate all the words I need to know to pay the bills! This is pretty much still and all cash society so I am running all over the city to learn where to pay all the bills as well.
Living Alternatives is a ministry that reaches out to women who find themselves in a crisis pregnancy. The abortion rate here in Romania is 50%. This ministry is unusual here in Romania because they take in girls that are pregnant and have no where to go. A maternity home normally here means it is a place to go after you have had the baby. L.A. sold the maternity home they had and are currently trying to raise money to build a new home. While I am here I am helping to plan a banquet for this ministry and be an assistant to the Director, Kathy Miller.
So far this has been a good adventure for me! Being here has confirmed it even more that I am suppose to be here. I miss you all and am SO blessed to have you all in my life!
Thank you SO MUCH for praying and supporting me!
God Bless,

Dear Friends and Family:

The mercy of the Lord never
ceases to amaze me! Once again He has shown me who is Lord and that He
is faithful and just. We have had a very challenging two weeks here in
Colombia. We have received many young adults averaging less than 23
years old. The program was all of a sudden struck with conflicts,
divisions, arguments and rebellion. It took most of the leaders to be
ministering around the clock, confronting, doing inner healing and
counseling to bring stability into the camp. Then it dawned upon me,
the problem is not physical but spiritual. These last two weeks the
whole region was preparing for Carnival, a season when everything goes.
Rebellion, perversion and idolatry are tolerated. We realized
conventional methods do not work in this kind of atmosphere. Even our
leaders were experiencing ambivalence, frustration, irritation and
fears.

I went into a fast and prayed, we suddenly changed
our routine and went into praise and worship. We prayed and interceded,
many began to ask for forgiveness from each other, many began to ask
for help and we saw the body of Christ suddenly pull together. Even the
leaders received ministry from the men in the program and from each
other. It was a sight to see! We sensed right away the presence of the
Lord and it was evident He was doing a deep work. I could not help but
weep with compassion thanking God for what He is doing to us as if He
was pulling something from our throat to allow us to breathe again. I
began to remember an article I wrote awhile back that basically says
therapy and recovery methods are not enough but that the power of the
Holy Spirit is what changes people. We even witnessed a physical
healing as a young man 22 years old confessed that when his arm was
hurt in the bakery, he wanted to use this situation to leave the camp.
Instead, the Lord convicted him and as he prayed asking God for
forgiveness the Lord told him to take off his bandage and all of a
sudden he was healed.

Nothing can compare to the miracle
working power of God. Nothing can replace the supernatural touch of
God. The Lord is definitely pouring an extra dose of His power and
presence on us lately. I have been praying for a reformation and
revival and I believe we are experiencing just the tip of what God can
do if we humble ourselves, repent and pray. Carnival is now over but
God's reformation is just starting, I believe there is a wave that will
be coming from heaven towards the body of Christ not only here but
everywhere. In this day and age where logic and humanism have become
gods, our society will be experiencing failure, but where God's
presence is, He will manifest His healing power. We have exciting news
and in depth articles on the Pipeline. Please click on the attachment

Vania Krell who is serving with YWAM (Youth with a Mission) in Romania needs our prayers throughout her 6 month mission. sion Book on the Mission table. Please read about our missionaries serving all over the workd.
This came from another brother serving there:

Please pray
· For the revelation of God's grace and mercy to penetrate believers and bring understanding of holiness and the need for unity, repentance, humbleness and fear of the Lord. Come against confusion, fear, disunity and diversions or accusations from satan.
· For protection, guidance, wisdom, courage, boldness and discernment to flow among church leaders. Pray for their faith to grow, and for God to strengthen relationships among them through the love of Christ in and between churches.
· That the Word of God would spread mightily across Romania through the Church, parachurch organizations every resource God sanctions and provides, that many turn to the Lord.
· For the youth and for religion-in-schools to continue. Pray God's protection and guidance over them bring revival, and that they would be a radical generation for Christ and do mighty works for Him.
· That materialistic Western ways would not influence the Church of Romania. Come against materialism and exhaustive activities that steal the time and energy of Christians from their service to Jesus Christ and serving His people.
· That the assault of occult, violence, hopeless and depression over Romania that leads people to commit foolish acts (i.e. suicide, violence, family abandonment) would stop and through Jesus Christ, salvation, peace, hope and a future become theirs (Jeremiah 29:11)
· For the leaders (President, government, parliament) - peace and stability. Pray for their reconciliation and against confusion and any tendency toward returning to communism. Pray against spirits of disunity, manipulation and control among them.
· For economical stability in Romania and its protection against intruders, epidemics or natural disasters. "Especially pray for protection of our children, peace and protection at borders and inside our land."
Also pray for the thousands of orphans in Romania. Pray that adoptions into loving Christian families will increase and the scriptures obeyed regarding these little ones. May the Holy Spirit breath life into the many orphanages that have heartbreaking situations.
Thank you for taking the time to lift them up to the Lord.

Thanks for writting and thanks so much for your prayers. I am doing good. Still staying in the same apartment but it has stopped raining so it no longer leaks. Just last week I got to witness to one of my neighbors. Her name is Anju and she really needs God's healing, so please pray for her.

Work is going good. God is really blessing my work. However I have been working too much! I was just realizing that I am tired all the time and that is not God's will for me. That is why I have not been sending updates... not good!!

I am determined to slow down some. I am going away for a day (today) for a little personal spiritual retreat so please pray for that.

I am going to pray about resting in God and allowing Him to fill me with His strength so I am not so tired. and I am starting to pray about the future. My visa runs up May 20th. I am excited to see my family but I love living in India and doing the work I am doing here.

Well hope all is going well at church. I think of you guys often. It was on my list to send out and update this weekend but I did not do it!!! I need to!
Dear Praying Friends,

First let me pause to wish you each a very happy and blessed new year 2008! May you see the Lord move mightily in answer to your prayers and may you become more and more the person He wants you to be, and may Jesus Christ be glorified in your life.

I don't know whether the persecution of Christians in the state of Orissa, India has reached your newspapers or not--but it is indeed a fact and our brothers and sisters in that area are asking for prayer and for protection from the government authorities and police. I saw in the Singapore paper today, an article in which the federal government promised to ensure the rights of all Indian citizens, including the Christian minority. I can only pray it is more than empty words. A friend of ours in India wrote : " 300 houses burned to the ground and over 40 Christians are feared killed in Barakuma a Christian village in Palvana District (this was reported by a pastor living in the area)... They are asking for prayer and protection from the government authorities and police." Let's pray that indeed the authorities both federal and local and state will do what is right and protect these Christian villagers from the militant Hindu group that is perpetrating these atrocities. Pray for courage and a spirit of forgiveness for the Christians so that they may glorify the Lord in what they do and not perpetuate violence by retaliating.

I'd also like to ask you to pray with us for an Indonesian 48 year old lady who has cancer. Here's the story. On Christmas eve I (Edith) got a phone call from Pat, a friend in our church here in Singapore. She was at the hospital near our home with her son who had a serious surgery. She saw a lady in the waiting area, all alone and looking sad and decided to sit by her and see if she could comfort her in any way. She found she could only communicate a little with her because she only spoke Indonesian and Pat understands very little of that language. But she did understand that this lady's sister is very sick and wants to be ministered to. Pat remembered that I speak Indonesian and called me. So on Christmas afternoon Dick and I went to the hospital room of the sister, whose name is Djiastuti, taking elements for communion. We found out that Djiastuti has a very dangerous cancer in one breast and had just had a tumor removed from her back. The doctor in Jakarta had told the sister, Lilik, that there was no hope. Lilik and her other siblings did not want to just give up. Djiastuti has worked hard to help her younger siblings get education and they love her very much. She is Catholic, while the two younger sisters with her here in Singapore are evangelical Christians. Lilik had been praying the Lord to send her some encouragement when my friend Pat sat down by her. In fact the Lord has been sending her encouragement along the way, answering various prayers. Clearly the Lord is showing His love to this family.

I don't know whether Djiastuti is saved or not and I don't know whether or not it's God's plan to do as He did for Hezakiah and give her more years to live here. I only know that Lilik and Sari are calling on the Lord and asking for their sister's life and her salvation. Will you please join us as we join them in this prayer? Also, please pray for me to have the Lord's Words and wisdom to share with Lilik and Sari as I visit them each day I can. Also pray that the Lord will supply the finances they need for Djiastuti's treatment. (It is not common for Indonesians to have health care insurance.) One brother owns two houses and is thinking to sell one of them to help pay the bill. Her treatment is to be 6 chemo treatments and 10 radiation treatments and then a mastectomy, as far as I understand. It will take all their resources and then some, for they are not wealthy. Please pray also, that if indeed the Lord does not plan to heal her, that the doctors will see and advise wisely so that this family's resources are not wasted.

Thanks for helping others through your prayers.

GenE30 (General E-mail #30)
Open email to all our FAMILY, FRIENDS, FORMER PARISHIONERS and NEW
ACQUAINTANCES around the globe!
Greetings and blessings toward each of you in very special ways! Hopefully this email finds you doing well and enjoying God's goodness, mercy and peace.
This October has been a strange one for weather. We (in Michigan) have not seen the cool fall temperatures that are "normal" for this State. I hear that, at least in the South and West USA, many parts of the Country have been very very dry, drought-ridden and certainly abnormal in their weather patterns. The fires in California are running 1/2 MILLION* people out of their homes and into shelters (with parallels similar to the Katrina Hurricane disaster). Our troops seem to be bogged down in a tactical stalemate with insurgents, and countries like Iran, Russia, China and North Korea taunt us with "sounds of the drums of war." Unrest and persecutions in those countries, along with Turkey, Pakistan, India and various ones on the African continent, and in South America, seem to all indicate something more than just the "status quo" of Global affairs. Our presidential race is in a quandary to find majority satisfaction among the various parties, special interest groups and the Christian Conservative Right. These all tend to point, along with major economic pendulum swings, to a large amount of Global chaos. If I weren't a Christian and didn't know how the days ahead are to unfold, I might add my voice to a cry for a bigger and more promising leadership, Globally. Isn't that something that "sounds familiar?"!!!
Now is NOT the time to bury our heads in the sands and not make our voices COUNT! As God gives us a new-found strength, we must muster our ranks and be true Soldiers of conviction about the issues at RISK! Our voices must not be silent as to our desires for the quality of a candidate that has the moral tenacity to effectively judge proper values and right decisions for a Country founded on God, decency, order, justice, truth and moral fibers that can endure the most powerful lobby and cries for things that will tear apart a country on an UNSTABLE foundation.
Pardon my entry among many voices, but it is sickening to see the apathy, weakness, indecision and moral stench that "drives" most of our presidential candidates to vacillate on what they KNOW to be right, but choose the popular cry of a sick Nation that currently has no guts to follow righteousness. Eighty to Ninety percent of our citizens SAY that they "believe in God," and yet we find GodLESSness leading the ranking "favorites." There is something bad-wrong with that picture! "Prayer" without action is not praying, in faith (James 2:14-26).
The devotional with this GenEmail deals with Godly sorrow that leads to repentance and a fruit of "works" that PROVE that true repentance has taken place in a person's life. I believe, as a Christian, that our Nation needs to repent and turn away from a destructive direction of lacking accountability, stewardship, responsibility and faith,...and turn BACK to God! HE will make us whole again, IF we do!

Things here are doing alright. I want to thank the VERY many of you who are lifting all of us up in your prayers, and this facility! We recently had 25 people who were baptized in the portable baptismal tank, in the gym. That Sunday was a very powerful day, with guests and a large inmate-robed choir punching through the ceiling with their voices of praise! It was an awesome and VERY unique experience that not many prisons/prisoners can say they have seen in this MDOC(Mich.Dept.of Corr.)! God was glorified and souls were minstered to. My family is doing well. Your prayers are keeping them safe and strengthened to press forward. Mom and Dad are doing alright, and are doing so many things around Decatur and even in Texas, soon. Mr. and Mrs. Hamner were able to come for a visit, this month and it was such a refreshment, as with all visits. Then, a couple of days ago, my best friend, growing up, came to visit along with her Mother-in-Law (Claire "Hamner" Whiteman and Mrs. Joan Whiteman). Those visits are life-saving, as they breathe life back into my bones, from this desert of a place. I want to thank their families and all of you, for being a part of allowing those experiences to continue to provide hope, encouragement and nourishment to my life. God is good, isn't HE?!!!
One thing that I shared with Claire and Joan was the way that our Church has grown, here, AND the one day a week Bible study that I teach on Friday night has expanded to include every morning (Mon.-Sat.) from 8am-10amEST. Please keep all of the men in prayer, that attend that, as well as all of the men who fellowship in order to get any information that can help them with resources for their life, Spiritual walk and families when they get out (I am in a housing unit where most of the men come in for 60 days and then go home from here).
Please visit the prayer request section of the Website (randyvanlandingham.com). Each of those prayers ARE heard and answered, in some form or fashion, by God. HE is moving greatly. If you have answers to report to the glory of our Lord, please share them. Please know that YOU are being prayed for, as well.
Each of you are cherished and deeply planted in my heart. Thank you for what you mean to me and our family. Along with the listed prayer requests, I would like to encourage some super talented youth, teens and young adults who are crossing the divide, soon, to take their place in the adult world. These are family and friends that we all have seen in some form or way, in all our communities' youth. Particular artists, sports heroes, and business entrepreneurs: April, Bobby, Juan Jr., Callie, Luke, Nathan, Alexis, Raquel, Erin, Matthew, Matthew, David, Daniel, Randy III, Heather, Bailey, Allison, Sydney, and tons more youth who are coming up under them to take their places in being talented Christian leaders of our future, too! We sometimes avoid making anything big about our talents that our young people offer to our lives, but, they are critical and OUR FUTURE! Take time, this week, to thank our Christian young people in your churches and homes, for what all they put of themselves INTO our lives, as faithful followers of our Lord. They are our Future CHURCH and community leaders! Help to guide them and be the mentors that God is directing you to be! As the UNholiday gets closer (halloween), lets keep our youth focused on their potential to be the angels, in our lives, that are under YOUR wing to be the STRONG SAINTS of tomorrow.
Have a SUPER week and write when you can. I always enjoy hearing from each of you. I appreciate, sooooo much, your cards, emails, letters and messages of encouragement, fellowship and friendship! God bless you FULLY!
In HIS Love, forever and into Eternity!

Dear Friends and Family,

As you know our son Kelly has been a missions pastor with Calvary Chapel for 13 years. He has taken groups all over the world. Israel is one country he has been to 7 times. He has made good friends especially with the major of Ariel and last year Kelly and a business man were honored by Ariel and other Israeli officials. The dinner was at Ft. Lauderdale and many dignitaries, including the ambassador attended.

For sometime Kelly has felt the Lord calling him in a different direction and about 2 months ago resigned from Calvary Chapel and began another church, which they call Epic, http://epic-remix.org/index.htm. They have met 4 times and have about 60 attending. They already plan a trip to Israel in October. I just read his web site again and I would like to jump in and be a part of it! I have always wanted to reach out to the homeless. I give to local missions, but don't get to interact with the people receiving help.

Most of his mission staff resigned with him and continue with the epic center. His different thinking about what churches should mean is partly based on a book:

The Drama of Scripture.
Authors are:Graig G. Bartholomew and Michael W. Goheen.

I am on the seconding reading of the book as it has so much in it, that it takes more than one reading to grasp it all. It ties together the Scriptures going back to the creation in a way I haven't seen before.
God bless you as you reach out to others,

Love, Millie

Dear Friends and family,

Latrines Project

In October we held a meeting in La Muralla to discuss with the people the possibility of building latrines at each home. It was disapointing when only a few of the families were represented at the meeting, and when the people clearly stated that they are not interested in composting latrines like I had hoped. But it was good to hear what they really wanted rather than beginning a project that they would not be motivated to accomplish. The people expressed that they definitely want to build latrines but just want the bucket flush kind. So the next step is for the people to commit to the project by sending me a list of the heads of house holds who will do their part in seeing the latrines project through to the end. Please pray for the people to be unified and confident in the goodness of this project so that we all will join together to accomplish this project and find God's kingdom and justice through it.

Physical Health

I was sick a lot during whole month of October. I suffered the consecuences of intestinal parasites, spent several days in bed with and a week recovering from a fever of 101.4, and had a cold for a couple of weeks. But the most significant sickness that I contracted was a tropical parasite called leishmaniasis. This parasite is injected into the blood stream by a sand fly and then as it multiplies just under the skin one or more sores develop and grow. The parasite in advanced stages can infect the mucous membranes of one's nose, ears or lips, can infect one's liver and eventually, usually after a number of years cause death. A sore developed on my arm in early October and lab tests confirmed it to be leishmaniasis. But after two weeks of its appearance the sore disappeared. Many people have been praying about this sickness and we hope that I have been healed. Because of the seriousness of the disease I am going to Tegucigalpa (on my way to the Living Water mission project in Choluteca, to get further blood work done to find out whether or not the parasite still infects my blood. Please pray for conclusive results of this test and/or the faith and confidence that I am healed. If the parasite still infects my blood, the only treatment consists in 40 injections over 20 days of a strong chemical that makes one very sick and causes weight loss. You all know that I can not afford much weight loss. So please pray for strength if God sees fit that I go through this treatment.

Living Water Project

On November 9th, seven of the Discipleship Group youth, Joel, Allison and I will be joining Gustavo Lepe, Jay Substad and a team from Minnesota for a water project in the community of Mata Palo. We will travel winding mountainous roads for seven hours to Tegucigalpa by truck where we join Gustavo and the rest of the team. On the 11th, after another 4 hours of driving we will arrive in Mata Palo, where for a week we will live with and work along side of the people to install a gravity fed water system so that each home can have one faucet to draw water from. We will hold educational programs for the kids and evening meetings for the whole community. Throughout the week we pray that God's love and the good news of the kingdom would be proclaimed loud and clear through our actions, attitudes and words. Please pray to that end.

IER Graduation

The second graduating class of Instituto El Rey will be graduating on November 17th. Lilian Lopez, the student who has been living with us on campus and whom I have written about in previous letters, is not only a member of this class, but is most likely the valor dictorian. We will be celebrating with her on her big day, and holding a special dinner in her honor for her and her special guests. Please pray that Lilian would open her heart more to the Father's tender love for her and that Allison and I would be reflections of that love through the celebration of this mile stone in her life.

Thank you once again for your joining me in living out the glory of Christ here in Honduras through your prayers, words of encouragement and financial support. It is a privilege for me to be here in his name as we join together in loving service to Christ Jesus. Thank you for your part.

Praise the Lord for:

1. his tender love and kindness to me
2. The opportunity to express the good news of Jesus in the Mata Palo community water project and the La Muralla latrines project
3. the graduatin IER students and God's grace to Lilian Lopez in graduating as valor dictorian

Pray to the Lord for:

1. me to continue walking in God's Holy Spirit through joys and hardships
2. the good news to be expressed through the Mata Palo water project and people to turn to Jesus
3. the Discipleship Group youth to grow in faith and love through the Mata Palo mission trip
4. the leishmaniasis to be healed, conclusive results from blood tests and/or strength during treatment
5. Lilian to see God's grace in her graduating with honors and to open her heart more to him

with gratitude,

Hello Friends,
I hope that you are all doing well and that God has shined upon you with His magnificent LOVE.
I am writing make you aware of the progress we have made since coming to Redding, California and what we believe the future direction is and the influence this will have on our family, DIVINETOUCH, the vision for South Africa and our length of stay in the USA.

1) Sarah and I have decided that this would not be the right season for us to attend the Bethel School of Ministry. There are several reasons but primarily this is a season we want to support our daughters, who sacrificed a lot to answer the call to Africa 3 years ago.

2) Kira is currently attending the ministry school and she is being mightily blessed of the LORD through this ministry and we wish to support her. Alysia-Rae and Olivia are attending a University Prep School and they are loving it. Please pray for Alysia-Rae as she has elected to fore go two years of high school and complete all of the required credits to graduate from 12th grade at the end of this school year.

3) Sarah and I will connect with the leaders of the Bethel Transformation Center and continue our training in SOZO ministry and Shabar inner healing ministry. This will help us to better grasp the powerful application of what Jesus said "if you continue in My word, you are My disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you FREE..." (JOHN 8:31).

FAMILY
1) Currently Alysia-Rae has said that she would like to commit to the first year of ministry school at Bethel, once she has completed high school. If that were the case we are looking at staying put for at least two years. Due to the family transition that we are experiencing and with Kira and Alysia-Rae attending Bethel School we find that our support must first be with and for our family.

2) Currently I have two interviews lined up for employment that would give us the income we need to meet our
Monthly needs without Sarah having to find a job.

DIVINETOUCH
1) We will remain focused on building support for the vision in our hearts for South Africa and the hope that one day soon we will have a ministry base there containing; a healing, worship, and leadership development centers with a portion of the base being set aside for visiting missionaries and community outreach and development.

2) Please pray for me as I research and learning about grant writing, and fundraising for this ministry base in South Africa.

SOUTH AFRICA
I recently received the following email from the leader of the SOZO teams that Sarah and I trained and planted in White River and Nelspruit South Africa:

Hi Larry,

Firstly I apologize for taking so long to reply. I am glad to hear on the ways the Lord has opened up for all of you. News from this side is as follows. The training was done at Carolina, there were 16 in total trained. We had the first SOZO sessions this weekend. Anita, Dalene and Sheila went with me. We SOZO'd 6 people. There were some awesome breakthroughs. With the one person there was a strong manifestation of a religious spirit. Sheila did speak to Pastor Nico about it. We are planning the next session for some were in November will update you on the date.

The translation of the SOZO material in Afrikaans is complete, it must be proof read and then we will print it. I will mail you a copy once its done. We are currently working closely with the White River team and are planning to have a SOZO day at Calvary. The concept at this stage is to have it on a Saturday. There will then be about 4 to 5 teams, so we will be able to SOZO 5 people during the same time slot. Some of the White River members will join in on 3rd Chair, to give them the exposure when we SOZO the Carolina people and some of the Carolina people will sit in when we SOZO Nelspruit and White River people. We are then looking at having 3 time slots for that day; hence in total we would be able to SOZO 15 people on that day. We have found with the Carolina group that one can not do more than 3 per day. The preference is 2, however due to the fact that most of us are working, a Saturday seems to fit everybody.

There is also then the training that Sheila asked to be done at Backdoor that we are still planning on. There is also a group of matured Christian in Nelspruit and White River that want to be trained. However I have no date for that yet and will inform you later on the progress.

All in all things are going well.

Send my love and regards to Sarah and the children.

Blessings

Elda Steyn

THE SEEDS OF SOZO THAT WERE PLANTED HAVE HARVESTED GOOD FRUIT AND THERE IS MORE TO COME...HALLELUJAH!!!!!

Although we have had to make some adjustments, nothing can stop the FAVOR OF THE LORD ONCE IT HAS BEGUN...
Any questions, thoughts, or prophetic words of encouragement please don't hesitate to ask email or call 321-298-3805

Love, Grace, and Peace to you all...

Hi Prayer Warrior,
We are really struggling temporarily with money needs; please pray for the LORD to breathe favor on any of the 12 applications I have completed. Next Tuesday I will begin work at a Target store but it won't last past January. I have applied for a job to supervise disadvantaged youths in a group home setting that would be nice and give an opportunity to minister the Father's heart to them. Also some other retail jobs with Costco and Sears that may fit right. We need about a minimum of $700.00 a week and I am willing to work a second job if needed.

It seems being back in the US has meant changing our roles from missionary to laborer. That is okay because the LORD knows what we can handle.

Because of finances Sarah and I had t step out of the school but Kira is still attending the Ministry School at Bethel. Kira seems to be enjoying this time and I have seen some transformation, but she is really looking forward to college next year.

I am praying about starting a home group here in Redding, but not sure if there will be enough time when I start working, we will see.

This has been one of the most challenging steps of obedience I have had to take in recent years, because of the shock and pressure of trying to adjust to the culture of American lifestyle as oppose to the somewhat simplicity of South Africa.

Needing Praying and Favor in Redding California...
Grace and Peace to you.

It is certainly time for me to get an email off to you folks. So much has been going on that I haven't sent letters to but a very few. We have so much to thank our dear Lord for it would take all evening to recount it all. But we will give you the highlights. As you knew Rick, our son, had cancer of the esophagus and had some hard treatments for some months. He has been declared cancer free, Halelujah!!! Donna was finding he medication for the seizures had become almost ineffective. We took her to Montreal and they had hoped to get her in for surgery. But there were always emergencies come into the neuro hospital and we brought her home of two weeks. Then she got word that they would be able to go ahead and we flew back to Montreal. It is now two weeks since her surgery. She was operated on the Thursday and wer brought her back here on the Montreal. She is doing so well and we are all rejoicing in Gods goodness. Her neurosurgeon told her it would take a year to prove the surgery was really successful. But we know our God does things well. The surgeon told us they went deeper this time and found some other damage which they corrected.

Gordy and I are fine and our weather has been wonderful. We meet with a group of seniors on Fridays and are seeking to be good witnesses. The evening before we went to Montreal, we were robbed. Even though we were in our apartment we couldn't see the door and someone came in and out in a flash, took Gord's wallet, cash that was on the dresser and my rings. He had to be a pro to be so slick. We thank our Lord that we didn't confront him, we just thought it was one of the seniors who mistook our door for theirs. It does happen. Anyway, it was just things and all we have belongs to Him and we had more important matters on our minds. We remember you all in our prayers each day. Do share this letter with the dear folks there. We have heard from Roberta Thompson a couple times and she is making adjustments to her new situation.

Well dear ones in the Lord, Maybe I won't be so slow writing the next time. We love you all.

Prayer Update: Peace In The Storm, Saturday, October 27, 2007
From Shara Pradhan, Assistant to Heidi Baker

I just got off the phone with Heidi, who asked me to send out a quick update
to our family of friends. We thank God for each of you who have so covered
us in love, support and intercession. We have felt that we could stand on
your prayers. Heidi flew out to join Rolland a week ago. Rolland received
one week of intensive prayer along with solid and sound medical attention.
His heart has calmed, he has begun to regain the weight he lost, gaining
strength and is feeling much better. In our time of deepest need, God has
really given him a breakthrough.

However, the doctors are insisting Rolland take a three-month sabbatical or
furlough in the US. Therefore, Heidi and Rolland will be in the US for the
next three weeks. Rolland will rest in the US for Nov through Jan 2008.
Heidi will also take the month of December completely off from ministry
after our Holy Given Iris International School of Missions Graduation. The
Bakers will be together laboring to "enter rest" as Heidi wrote in our last
update. Therefore, Heidi will not be speaking more during this time as her
focus and priority is Rolland.

Both Bakers express intense appreciation and thanksgiving for the depth and
breadth of love and care. Certainly we do not feel alone in times of trials.
Perhaps the greatest redemption of attacks like these is Jesus' love shining
so brilliantly and beautifully through the lives of our family of friends.
We see Him in each other and thank our God daily for you. We request prayer
also for the transition in administration as Rolland takes a time of rest.
We pray for the fullness of rest and restoration. The best is always yet
ahead in Him.

"Onward we go" as Rolland often says.

Dear Friends and Family,

Amar es Esperar
In the month of September we finished the Amar es Esperar (True Love Waits) conference at Instituto El Rey (IER). During the three weeks of seminars two hurricanes and a two-day national teachers' strike interrupted the teachings. These circumstances were a little eerie since none of them have occurred during the rest of the year. But Ester, the other staff and I watched as the truth was presented clearly and boldly on the subjects of love, sex and marriage in a culture and a world where the truth is kept in the dark and the lies are displayed from the roof tops. Most of the students paid very close attention during the 75 minute sessions, and an extra two hours of question and answer time was held on the last day. During the final session everyone was given the chance to give their future in the areas of love, sex and marriage to God. Around 120 (of 180) students and teachers committed to trust the Father with their lives. Praise him with me, and pray for each to draw from God's strengthening love to follow through on their commitment.

Dia del Niño
In Honduras September tenth is Dia del Niño (Day of the Child). Allison and I took the Acosta family orphans and about 20 others including Doña Maria Montes' children to the beach for the day. For many of them, it was the first time to make the ten-mile trip from the village where they were born and raised to the beach. Lidia came up to me with her little nose all wrinkled and said "My mouth tastes yucky." Another asked me "So who put the salt in this water?" After a hundred inner tube rides in the waves, digging up sand dollars by the handful, soccer on the beach, a picnic lunch, plenty of sun, salt and sand to go around, and then getting caught in a tropical thunderstorm on the way home, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. One boy even took a bottle full of ocean water home to prove to his friends the adventure we had enjoyed. Thanks for helping make it possible to show these little ones that they are loved perfectly by their Heavenly Father.

Latrines in La Muralla
Can you imagine having no toilet or latrine at your house? The people of La Muralla have lived this way for about 80 years. This year the people show interest in building latrines. Three of my friends have tried to dig the pit necessary for a latrine and have hit bed rock at about five feet down. So, since the beginning of the year, we at the campus in Las Mangas have been using a dry composting latrine, which is built from ground level up, in order to demonstrate a fantastic option for the community of La Muralla (as well as for ourselves). We have scheduled a community-wide informational meeting for the 13th of October about working together to build latrines. So far people seem to be wary of the composting latrine model, so pray for good communication at this community meeting. We would like to work with the people of La Muralla between now and March to install the latrines. Please pray with us about this important step for the community of La Muralla and the expression of God's kingdom there.

Thank you for your kind e-mails, your prayers and your contributions to the good work that is going on here in the Cangrejal River Valley. We are seeing lives touched by the love of God through us. God has been guiding and sustaining through each challenge along the way. I know that your prayers are a part of that. Thank you.

Praise the Lord for:
1. his strengthening during a three day personal retreat
2. so many IER students entrusting their futures to God who is love
3. his love expressed during the beach day with the orphans

Pray to the Lord for:
1. that my heart would remain steadfast in Christ
2. the IER students to continue faithfully trusting God with their hearts
3. direction and wisdom for the latrines project in La Muralla
4. the Discipleship Group youth to grow in their love for Jesus

Sincerely,

Dear Intercessors,
Just a few days ago when Roger was in the
Church Office we had a surprise visit from Rodrigo
and Judy Limpot who had flown all the way from the
Philippines. He was a friend of Ally Gonzales and
Philip Gonzales, missionaries that we have supported
for many years. It turned out that Jamie had
visited the Philipines and laid hands on Rodrigo who
then became a Pastor and he and Judy are founder
members of the International Gospel Center in Cebu
City, 6000 Philippines. They have Children's
Ministry, pre school, elementary and a feeding and
clothing ministry, A Bible School and now has a
nightly Radio Gospel Broadcast that goes out to
amost all of the islands and beyond. It was a
lifelong dream to visit the Tabernacle and to take
pictures of the church but also our Missionary wall
to take back to show Philip and his family.
How big is our God! If you would like to pray for
them or be in touch with them, or send an offering
(mentioning the Tabernacle, Melbourne)..
judylimpot@yahoo.com or igcphilippines@yahoo.com .

Dear Sister Joan,

I'm so glad with my wife Judy that I was able to visit
your church with my wife Judy. It was 1974 0r after
that Jamie Buckingham laid hands on me at church of
Wire Alley Gonzales where I also became a pastor in
later years.
Many years also I became recepient of those messages
in audio tapes which increased me into soooo much
blessings Spiritually.
I thank God for the ministry of Jamie Buckingham and
the TABERNACLE CHURCH which brought us into greater
anointing to greater ministry not only in the
Philippines but to Nations like United States of
America.
PLEASE keep us in your prayer and we do likewise for
God's glory.
May God Bless You More Abundantly.

Blessings,

Today we also had a visit from 2 young
missions workers..Angel, & Harry Lachner who have a
local prison ministry working with those coming out
of jail. They teach auto mechanical skills, feed,
help and evangelize those who are needy in this
area. They buy junk vehicles and unwanted vehicles
and fix them up. They are working out of Assembly
of God on Pineapple and want to visit our Sunday
services and attend Tuesday Mission Communion.<br /
