The Tabernacle Community Service Podcast

We at the Tabernacle Community of Melbourne Florida believe we are not to be another church service in competition with area churches. Rather we are to be of service to the kingdom of God by serving the body of Christ at large. We are an elder led church and due to our plurality of leadership we do not encourage the following of an individual ( Senior Pastor ). We provide facilities for a number of other ministries serving the body of Christ. We invite you to visit our web site. May you be Blessed.

Learning To Rest In Him

Melissa Quinn is a social worker setting up aftercare programs with International Justice Mission. Currently she is working in Rwanda after completing two years in India. She mentions a video in the presentation, but the audio is largely in the dialect of the area where she was working accompanied by sub-titles. To give the context we are including four links to the IJM site.
In her personal sharing she shared the lessons God has taught her and His call to learn to rest in Him.

Challenging the Lie

The last few weeks we have been looking at Gods dealing with Israel and how it is similar to His dealings with us.
It is not easy facing giants to take our rightful land and destiny, but God has assured us He will never leave us nor forsake us.
The battle is His, we only have to step out and face the lie in faith, trusting our Father is as near as our voice.

The exciting difference between Israel and us, is that we in Christ can come boldly before the throne of grace and get another chance to face the lies in our lives where we have failed before. And there is no condemnation for those of us in Christ Jesus.

There comes a time in our walk with God where we will no longer seek to escape from the giants, that in spite of the lies, we will see them as another oppotunity to trust and be assured of God’s faithfulness to us as His sons and daughters.

God led the children of Israel in the wilderness and through all the difficulties involved in order to teach them to trust him. He wants to bring us to a place of simple trust as well. To learn that we must learn to deal with the trials of our lives as holy messengers sent to build our trust, strength and forbearance.

What Happens in God's Presence?

Don Lees reminded us of God's great love for us from John 3:16. He then reviewed from Luke 19 1-10 what happened to Zacheus when he came into the presence of Jesus. We are seeking to make our abode in His presence and walk in that awareness. The result is what we will be changed and released into the destiny God has for each of us. The Elders then anointed all those in the congregation who desired and prayed that they would be released into the call of God. Mike Smith later shared from Luke 9:28-36 the marvelous experience Peter, James and John had at the mount of transfiguration. Peter wanted to build tabernacles for Jesus. Moses, and Elijah and settle down in this experience. He then contrasted this with Jesus instruction in Luke 10:1-21. He gave instruction to settle down in one home and build relationship with them while declaring the presence of the kingdom. When they were excited about their authority over demons he called their attention to the more important things than the dramatic—their relationship with God,

The Sources of Trials: Eliminating Blocks to Our Spiritual Life

A theme developed throughout this service as the Holy Spirit led various ones to share. The theme was focused on finding release from everything that blocks us from being free to show forth the glory of the Lord. The call came during communion to deal with attitudes which interfere. During a time of healing prayer the need to deal with sin and disobedience in order to realize that freedom came from James 5. During the message three major themes of the past three years: Intimacy with God, Spiritual Warfare, and the purpose of trials and tribulations were reviewed. In this review we saw that all of these are linked together in the process of God's formation of our character. This led to recognition that some trial come from God to prove our faith, and some come from our own actions and sins. We need to identify these and respond appropriately.

The Case For Business as a Sphere of Ministry

This message was given by Dr. Jim Garvin, Investment Banker and President of the US chamber of the International Christian Chamber of Commerce to a luncheon of business and professional people. The basic assumption he starts with is that if I as a Christian, following Jesus, am in business it is because I am called into business. This is my sphere of ministry just as surely as if I were called to pastor. It is sacred because I am set apart unto God. It is not secular! Jesus chose twelve business men to transform the world. He did not choose the Rabbis or priests. We who are in business need to ask, "How can I be an instrument of community transformation through my business.

Standing in the Face of Trouble

Many prophecies have been given about God's plan for this area. What will it take to prepare us for our part in seeing these things come to pass? The history of recent moves of God to transform cities and nations reveals that most of them came because of very difficult times. What then will prepare us to stand in times of trouble? Two characteristics which are necessary are Godly character that will not be moved, and tested faith that will believe what God says regardless of what the circumstances look like.

Where Does Jesus' Divine Nature Reside Now?

Since the pourng out of the Holy Spirit, The Divine Nature of Jesus dwells on the earth in His Body—the Church. When He died the veil that covered the Holy of Holies was rent. We now have direct access to the Father. We can know Him intimately. How must this impact our lives and behaviour?

The Blessing of Frustrated Expectations

Our expectations can block us from hearing what God is saying. The desciples expected Jesus as the Messiah to establish and earthly kingdom, drive out the Romans, and restore the glory of David's kingdom to Israel. These expectations prevented them from hearing what Jesus said. God had a far larger purpose in mind. The frustration of their expectations paved the way for the revelation they finally received of the glory of the kingdom He would establish. What expectations are we holding on to that are blocking God's revelation of His purpose in our lives?

God Is Building Our Character. The character established by God in our lives is one of the keys to being able to stand in difficult times. Note the Character of Shadrack, Meshak, and Abednego when faced with the kings command. It was this which protected them from compromise. Many other examples are given.
